Kefi Coaching proudly supported EWGA Sacramento’s Annual Swing for Girls. The event took place on May 18th at Morgan Creek Golf Course and was a fundraiser for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, specifically college scholarship and golfer scholarships for girls.

Kefi Coaching supports EWGA

Girls were selected based on their age specific handicap, degree of participation with The First Tee curriculum and programs including their community service. They were paired with EWGA Sacramento members in a fun net play competition followed by a barbecue and raffle. The girls also participated in a Fantasy Golf Card contest. Kefi Coaching donated the prizes of a Titleist stand bag and Titleist backpack.

The First Tee of Greater Sacramento is one of the larger chapters of The First Tee, a junior golf program that strives to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. The First Tee has had over 9 million participants since 1997, and is available in 50 states.

The impact of this program is evident. Participants learn and live the Nine Core Values, (Honesty, Respect, Courtesy, Judgment, Perseverance, Confidence, Sportsmanship, Responsibility, and Integrity) and Nine Healthy Habits of (Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family, Friends, School, and Community). Juniors have received college golf scholarships, but even more impressive is that many have received scholarships based on their character, community involvement and the leadership skills  learned from The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and the National First Tee.

The First Tee is important to Tyra as an avid golfer and member of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association). Tyra considers golf a “critical skill for business and for life.” Her journey into the game of golf has allowed her to build relationships personally and professionally, cultivate meaningful friendships, and learn and grow. It was through the game of golf that she was able to participate with the EWGA, where she developed leadership skills and gained nonprofit business experience while crafting lifelong relationships.
Tyra knows the importance that the game of golf can bring to juniors participating in The First Tee of Greater Sacramento program. She continues to support the organization through participation in fundraisers, raising money for college scholarships , and donating golf equipment. Golf can be instrumental in creating life skills and giving these juniors a competitive edge for their future, and Kefi Coaching looks forward to her future work with this organization.
